Profit fixation at the end of the week and low activity of market participants led to the fact that the US dollar retreated from previously occupied positions. The current dollar quotes dropped against the yen and the euro.
Currently, the value of the US dollar index is at around 95.14 points. Relative to the six major currencies of the general basket the price has decreased by 0.24%.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, the consumer sentiment index rose to the level of 100.1 points, against 96.2 points in August, while the forecast was 100.5 points. And the current expectations index rose to the level of 115.2 points against 110.3 points a month earlier. The inflation rate gradually reached 2.5% against 2.4% a month earlier. However, this doesn’t contradict the preliminary forecast of financial experts.
The pound sterling moderately lowered its quotes against the US dollar which affected the data on the state of UK GDP. According to the Bureau of Statistics, the growth of real GDP in England, for the second half of 2018 is the weakest in the last 7 years.
